How Much Energy (Calorie) Do You Need?

You need Calories or in other term Energy only for 2 reasons-

1. For Resting.
2. For Working.

Question is, how much do you need?

How Much Energy Do You Need For Resting?

Well, let's calculate...forget it. Let me do the math for you.

According to The National Research Council, Recommended Dietary Allowances(Washington, D.C.: NationalAcademy Press, 1989), To find your resting energy expenditure (REE), you must first figure out yourweight in kilograms (kg). One kilogram equals 2.2 pounds. So to get yourweight in kilograms, divide the number in pounds by 2.2. For example, if youweigh 150 pounds, that’s equal to 68.2 kg (150 ÷2.2). Plug that into the appro-priate equation in following Table — and bingo! You have your REE.

Male, 18 to 30 years-                 (15.3 x weight in kg) + 679
Male, 31 to 60 years-                 (11.6 x weight in kg) + 879
Male, Older than 60 Years -       (13.5 x weight in kg) + 487

Female, 18 to 30 years-             (14.7 ×weight in kg) + 496
Female, 31 to 60 years-             (8.7 ×weight in kg) + 829
Female, Older than 60 years-     (10.5 ×weight in kg) + 596
